About Us

Sweet Paprika is about living life independently, creatively and even a bit whimsically. Started in 2007 as a way to fund our fibre habit, Sweet Paprika has grown and our operations now include hand-dyed yarn, kits, patterns and classes. Our goal is to make beautiful yarns that complement any knitting or crochet project. We also strive to create patterns which are fun to make, classically stylish and infinitely wearable.

Debbie

While Debbie enjoys working with textiles of all kinds, yarn is a particular obsession. She loves starting with undyed yarn and working her way to a finished garment. Another outlet for Debbie’s creativity is her double life as a theatre student at Concordia University, where she designs stage sets and costumes (and sneaks her knitting into as many classes as possible!).

Elizabeth

Elizabeth loves sharing her passion for yarn and enjoys watching her friends get addicted to knitting. She’s always dreaming up new yarn colours and imagining all the wonderful things she could make if only there were more hours in the day. Always busy, Elizabeth also works as a freelance technical editor of knitting and crochet patterns, and moonlights as a dance notator and Pilates instructor.

Paul

Now that he knows how to knit and purl, Paul hopes to extend his horizons to lacework, socks, and may even try colourwork one day. He runs the admin side of things at Sweet Paprika, as well as doing the writing and photography. Known to stick his hand in the dye pot once in a while, Paul also enjoys putting his English degree to good use by brainstorming names for our colourways.
