    This cute but simple vest is named for Dmitri Mendeleev, a Russian inventor and chemist who discovered the periodicity of the elements. This is an ideal beginner crochet pattern, providing an opportunity to practice several basic techniques in an easy and satisfying project. The pattern includes five sizes (from 0-24 months) and buttonhole instructions for both boy’s and girl’s versions.
