Sweet Paprika offers classes and workshops on how to hand-dye your own yarn at our Montreal studio. We provide all the materials including professional-quality dyes, and access to our workshop equipment.
Note: If you have a small group (2-5 people) who would like to organize a private yarn dyeing workshop, feel free to contact us and we'll arrange a time.
In this workshop we will explore colour and fibre by dyeing small samples to each create our own "Dyer's Notebook". We'll discover the differences created by using the same dye on different fibre types (including non-superwash vs superwash and unspun fibre vs yarn), and experiment with colour mixing in a controlled way. We'll also discuss accurate measuring techniques and good note-taking practices. This is a great workshop for anyone who has dabbled in dyeing and wants to learn how to create more precise results or deepen their understanding of colour theory.
Previous dyeing experience is required for this workshop. If you would like to participate and have never dyed yarn before we are offering an introductory workshop on January 28, 2017.
Learn how to dye your own beautiful yarn! We'll cover all the basics, including preparing the skeins, hand-painting, kettle-dyeing and home-dyeing safety. All materials are provided for this one-day workshop and you'll go home with at least 2 skeins of your own hand-dyed yarn.
This is an introductory level workshop. No previous experience is required.
