Ryeland sheep are among the oldest of the British breeds with records dating back to the 12th century in Herefordshire. It’s thought that their name derives from the rye grasses that were grown in the region.
This light and lofty 2-ply woolen-spun yarn is a joy to work with. This yarn has a beautiful softness and elasticity to it and is soft enough to wear next to the skin for many people. We found there was some variation in the yardage per 100g skein, so have listed the yardage on the lower end to be on the safe side when planning projects.
Notes
The lovely heathered look of the undyed yarn comes from a mix of coloured and white fleeces and can be seen in the dyed yarn as well, especially in the lighter overdyed colours.
"Moss" was this month's cool colour option, "Sangria" was the warm option, and "Basalt" was the dark option. We've also added some extra colours this month.
