Come make a Catalan tray out of willow!
In this 3.5 hour workshop, you will learn fundamental willow weaving techniques and the 3 rod wale weave which is practical for various baskets and other willow projects.
All tools and materials will be provided and you'll get to go home with your own Catalan tray! It’s useful as a hot plate, fruit tray or wall hanging. Willow weaving is a beautiful art and this is a relatively straightforward project perfect for an introduction to the craft. If there's time, we’ll also cover some other simple willow crafts including gift ideas for the holidays.
This is an introductory level workshop. No previous experience is required.

- Language: This is a bilingual workshop (English & French)
- This workshop is open to adults, and children 12+ accompanied by an adult participant
- Workshop will run with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 students.
Cancellation policy: We require payment in full in order to reserve a space. We have a 5-day cancellation policy. Your payment will not be refunded unless you cancel at least 5 days before the workshop start time. We reserve the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment. Should this occur, all class fees will be refunded.
About the Instructor
Steve Leckman is the director of a nature school in Montreal called Programmes Coyote. He has been making baskets poorly for over 15 years, and a few years ago began to take this passion more seriously. He has been tending a willow basketry garden for 5 years that now has some 1000 plants, and studies with the legendary Johnny Suderman of Lakeshore Willows, as well as various other teachers. To him, willow basketry is a profound art, weaving skill, beauty, lineage, and landscape.
